The Second Colorado Study
The October 12, 2008 post might have been a little too ironic. I guess irony should be used in tiny doses. Anyway, to end this week I have a link to the second Colorado study of how media centers function in schools. This second study, like the first in 1993, is very positive ( But is anyone surprised?). This study is filled with stats and solid evidence. No opinions here. Show it to your principals and school boards. Just click on the title for the link. Thanks, RobertW

Robert-
I was only able to read bits and pieces of the article, but what I did read was very informative. From what I got, the article emphasized the collaboration between media specialist, teachers, and even technology. This article definitely needs to be passed around the school, especially since there is improvement in test scores.
No need to sell me on the importance of the school media specialist -- that is one very necessary position that our students and faculty depend upon so much. We have 2 excellent media specialists at our school and they are always busy. They are very generous with their time and spent most of their summer working in the media center trying to update the new computer system and barcodes on the books.
