The International
This isn't about the old socialist anthem. Instead, I was 'net surfing, looking for international viewpoints on media centers and libraries. We all know the American Library Association. Here's the equivalent the UK and one hundred other nations - titled simply The Library Association, whose purpose is, according to the organizational web site, to "affirm that libraries are fundamental to a thriving democracy, culture, civilization, and economy." Those are pretty big responsibilities. but I don't think they're exaggerated. Take a look and note, I think, the similarities of librarians all over the world.

This will be interesting to read and compare. I will share with my Mom too, who is a librarian. Very cool!
Wow!! I went to the page and checked out the code of conduct.. Very interesting. I wonder does this apply to school librarians as well. I would love for my librarian to see this.. I wonder what she would think :)
How true it is "that libraries are fundamental to a thriving democracy, culture, civilization, and economy." This is the reason Hitler did away most of the books contained within the German libraries during WWII.He hoped to control civilization by controlling what the citizens read.
